Book recommendation: Fast Facts: Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Co-written by Professor David Rampton who is supervising my research I can say that his communication in text is every bit as clear, concise and effective as are his spoken words, and that takes some beating. The references are very helpful and informative. It is altogether very readable and I recommend it to everyone with Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis or family members of people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I find this book an invaluable complement to Fred Saibil's, "Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis" (see post 23 January 2011).
Here is an excerpt from the description on Amazon:
"This fully updated third edition of Fast Facts: Inflammatory Bowel Disease maintains the high standard already set by the book s expert authors in the second edition, which won the BMA Medical Book Award for Gastroenterology. This well-illustrated handbook provides succinct yet thorough information on recognizing the disorders and their associated complications, as well as practical management advice on both ulcerative colitis and Crohn s disease. Fast Facts: Inflammatory Bowel Disease will prove an invaluable resource for all healthcare professionals working with people with IBD and for patients who wish to know more about their condition. Contents: Etiopathogenesis; Clinical features and complications; Diagnosis; Drug treatment; Medical management of ulcerative colitis; Medical management of Crohn s disease; Surgery; IBD in pregnancy and childhood; Prognosis; Future Trends. The 2nd edition was Winner of the first prize in the Gastroenterology category of the British Medical Association Medical Book Awards 2006"
